Scotland to south of France flights launched

New low-cost flights from Edinburgh to Avignon in the south of France have been announced by the Jet2.com airline.

Flight prices will start from £14.99 each way excluding charges and will start from June 23rd 2007. The route will be the first direct flight to Avignon from Scotland. "Avignon is bursting with culture and historical monuments and in July the whole city buzzes with the annual Avignon theatre festival. Forever immortalised in song, the beautiful old pont d’Avignon is another must see attraction for tourists," the airline explained.

The city is also a good destination to head for to explore France's Provence region, which features vineyards, olive groves and is home to some of the country's most famous Mediterranean style of cooking.
